Stainless steel is commonly used to create various pipes and tubes, which are classified into different grades based on their properties. Stainless Steel 410 Pipe is one type made from martensitic steel. These ASTM A312 TP 410 pipes are ideal for applications that need high strength, toughness, and resistance to wear and tear. However, the corrosion resistance of 410 pipes is lower compared to austenitic stainless steel pipes. 410 SS Pipes can be produced through methods like electric resistance welding, cold drawing, or electric fusion welding.
SS 410 ERW pipes are electric resistance weld pipes. Their size depends on the manufacturing method. AISI 410 round pipes range from ½ NB to 24 NB, while electric fusion 410 welded pipes vary from 6 NB to 100 NB. These pipes can be heated to increase strength, are easy to weld, and are often used in structurally strong applications. The hollow 410 steel pipes are heated, quenched, and tempered to achieve the desired strength, making them suitable for steam turbines, gas turbines, petroleum industry, pumps, and valves.
Grade 410 stainless steel hollow pipes have excellent mechanical properties but are not ideal for highly corrosive environments. They are commonly used in springs, fasteners, brackets, hardware, and scrapers. The 410 seamless pipes can resist scaling up to 1200°F and are magnetic in all conditions. To harden the Type 410 stainless steel square pipes, they must be heated up to 1850°F and quenched in air or oil. Electropolished pipes resist mild corrosion from acids, water, air, and food.
